    Dr. Tejaswini Yarlagadda, born in 1964, did her M.A. and M.Phil. in History from the Hyderabad Central University in the year 1986 and 1989 respectively. She was awarded the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy from the same University in 1996, for her thesis under the supervision of Prof. Aloka Parasher-Sen. Her Ph.D. The thesis is now presented in the form of this book.
